One of the other birders had been on site for a few hours and told us just how close the bird had been coming, but for our first half an hour it remained quite distance from us all, when ever a dog walker had to walk along the causeway the bird would scuttle through the fence onto the reservoir edge, but it always came back onto the causeway in a few minutes.
